I am presently dealing with taking on the commitment of "going organic" both in food purchases and my own very large garden. It's a lot easier and faster to use pesticides and roundup--but right now, i have 3 guys pulling weeds instead. It costs more, but I've decided to go for it. I believe you do have to pay more for the higher labor costs, more attention to detail and timing of organic pesticides, and probably the SRI fund management. BTW, Vanguard now has a socially resp index fund! It's the Vanguard Calvert Social Index Fund, just out this month and very low cost (.25). You can find it at Vanguard.com. Good luck!
