Saguache County Credit Union
, founded in 1996, is owned, directed, and operated by its
members. Both SCCU offices are in rural, low-income areas of south central Colorado. As of fiscal
year-end 2004, the credit union has amassed $15.5 million in assets, $13.5 million in loans,
including $8.9 in home loans, and $14.2 million in deposits. As of 12/31/04 SCCU had 2,704
members, 1,272 loans, 4,286 savings/share accounts, and 6 IDA accounts. SCCU has provided financial
education training to 50 youths and 46 adults, and 23% of its outstanding mortgage loans were made
to fist-time homeowners.
