- Rahinatu is a 19 year old final year student of the Savelugu Senior Secondary School and a
client of Sinapi Aba Trust. She has succeeded in employing her mother (a trader and the last of
three wives to a deceased husband), her senior sister, and two helping hands in her kenkey
Rahinatu was determined to stop poverty in her family and was self motivated. She started by making iced kenkey which she sold at school, the proceeds of which she used to pay for her education. When the woman who sold kenkey in their school left, she decided to take up the challenge.
She started by selling kenkey to the pupils and teachers in her school. At that time she could sell about 150 pieces each day. Her loan from SAT gave her the opportunity to expand. With her current loan of ¢1,500,000, Rahi now has a popular place in town where she sells to the community as a whole. Today she is able to sell 500 pieces of kenkey to the school and the community. She now has plans to expand her business, generate more profits, and support her younger siblings in school.
