Background
CEI Ventures, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiaries of Coastal Enterprises,
Inc., was formed to raise, manage, and invest socially responsible venture
capital funds. The Funds under management make equity investments in growing
companies which can generate above-average equity returns over a five
to seven-year time horizon, and which can also meet social goals. These
include the creation of high-quality jobs and ownership opportunities
for low-income individuals, the production of socially beneficial products
and services, and the implementation of progressive management practices.
In addition to the investment of capital, CEI Ventures provides assistance
with management, strategic planning, financing, and introductions to service
providers in the local and national business communities. This is typically
achieved by assuming a seat on the company's Board of Directors.
Social Mission
The Fund aims to create high-quality jobs for low-income individuals and
to foster economic growth in the region.
Investment Information
CVLP is fully invested. CVIILLC made its first investments in 2001. CEI
Ventures invests in all industries and across all stages of investment,
and seeks to co-invest where appropriate with other venture capital firms
and private investors. CVIILLC typically makes investments of between
$250,000 and $2 million.
