Background
The Fund is an outgrowth of The Reinvestment Fund (TRF), a leading development
finance organization headquartered in Philadelphia, with over $120 million
under management. TRF Urban Growth Partners (The Fund) is a socially responsible
fund striving to serve as a catalyst for regional economic development
by targeting high-growth companies located in the city or surrounding
communities.
Social Mission
The fund is driven by a set of core values that encompass channeling capital
back to underserved markets, achieving a double-bottom line, and leveraging
the capital of other partners. In addition to striving to create jobs
and wealth for low and middle-income workers in economically depressed
areas, the Fund also aims to invest in businesses controlled by women
or minorities.
Investment Information
The Fund invests in in or near urban markets in the Mid-Atlantic region
including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington,
D.C. The Fund is focused on high-growth companies that are beyond the
technological, organizational and developmental challenges of start-up
and seed stage firms. It is equally important for portfolio companies
to support urban job creation and impact the quality of urban life. The
Fund typically considers investments in the $2 - 5 million size range
where it would be lead investor and would invest from $1 - 4 million.
The Fund prefers to co-invest.
